Embacollage faced several challenges: picking and packing was still based on paper printouts, the shipping processes were manual and fragmented - therefore an external help was needed to put together the optimal solution. The goal was a more efficient and digitally driven setup powered by Business Central and Shipment Connector. Since 2022, Embacollage has collaborated with Obtain Group on continuous improvements to the processes in Business Central. In collaboration with several partners, integrations have been developed and implemented to optimize Embacollage's use of Business Central.
A key challenge for Embacollage was to simplify the process of carrier booking. Previously, it required manual steps and multiple systems to get an order from the webshop all the way to the customer – especially since the process involved order entry, warehouse management with printed pick lists, and shipment booking via nShift Ship. This is where Obtain Group stepped in with both technical and process expertise, bringing together the different elements into one streamlined flow.
It was important that employees did not have to work in several systems in parallel, and that a number of integrations and adaptations were built in Business Central that tie the threads together. The new solution means that employees can now handle the entire process - from picking and packing with Tasklet Factory's scanner solution to booking and price calculation of freight - directly in Business Central. Manual effort has been significantly reduced, while the risk of errors has been reduced and the time for picking orders has improved.
Embacollage chose in consultation with Obtain Group to implement Shipment Connector - an extension to Business Central, which gathers all freight and logistics functions from nShift Ship directly in the order and delivery documents. In collaboration with XtensionIT, Obtain Group developed a sales freight calculation on top of the solution, which makes it possible for Embacollage's customers to get the final shipping price already at the time of order creation. The price is calculated based on Embacollage's own freight agreements and set criteria such as weight and location.
The implementation of Shipment Connector has delivered clear benefits in shipping cost calculation and transparency. Instead of customers only seeing the shipping cost afterwards, the automatic price calculation provides a clear upfront overview. The prices are based on Embacollage’s fixed carriers and agreements, ensuring transparency and strengthening the customer experience. Most importantly, the solution is tailored to Embacollage’s specific needs and workflows - not just a standard model.
Today, Embacollage's freight and logistics process has been significantly optimized thanks to Obtain Group's work. The previous manual and fragmented setup has been replaced by a digital, automated solution, where everything from freight calculation and label management to picking operations and track & trace takes place directly in Business Central - without unnecessary manual processes.
Shipping prices are now automatically displayed in the webshop before checkout, which ensures a transparent and simple shopping experience for customers, while Embacollage simplifies and streamlines the order processing.
The collaboration with XtensionIT has resulted in a flexible freight calculation engine that calculates precise freight costs based on Embacollage's freight agreements and individual criteria such as weight and location. This calculation can be customized specifically for each carrier service to select the most cost-effective solution - all integrated into a unified and streamlined workflow.
